September 1, 2025Bayo Alaba MP Visits Queensway Resident Group!

The Queensway Resident Group was delighted to welcome Bayo Alaba MP this week. The meeting was kindly hosted by Marie Bryant, manager at The Storehouse, Southend on a busy Friday morning. Bayo was able to see the great work that Storehouse staff and volunteers do to make a real difference in the community.
Queensway residents were joined by Phoebe Baker, South Essex Homes Resident Engagement Officer and Chris Silvey, Southend Community Matters Community Development Officer.
Residents took the opportunity to ask how Bayo could support the group’s efforts. Issues discussed included anti-social behaviour, community safety and wellbeing, recycling and ways to encourage more resident involvement. He acknowledged the challenges faced by the community and praised the commitment of residents who continue to work together to improve their neighbourhood. Bayo pledged to raise local concerns with the appropriate agencies and He also committed to maintaining regular contact with the group to ensure that Queensway residents voices remain heard.
The meeting also provided a platform to showcase the recent achievements of the Queensway Resident Group. Members outlined their initiatives such as coffee mornings to reduce isolation, art and youth projects to build confidence and creativity, a regular resident newsletter and ongoing engagement with partners to strengthen local voices.
The visit concluded on a positive note, with both residents and their MP agreeing that stronger collaboration is vital for creating a safer, stronger, and more connected Queensway. The Resident Group looks forward to building on this relationship and continuing its vital work for the community.
